Huddersfield defeated Luton Town 1-0 to enter the Championship play-off final with a 2-1 aggregate win at the John Smith's Stadium. Now the Terriers are one step away from returning to the Premier League for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Both teams enter this fixture on a scoreline of 1-1 and Huddersfield took an 82nd-minute winner by Jordan Rhodes who converted a free-kick from fellow-sub Sorba Thomas to find the back of the net.

After the game, the West Yorkshire club had an emotional celebration in the dressing room. All players were dancing circles and singing the club's song that is often heard in their home stadium. The Terriers will play the winner between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United in the final at Wembley on Sunday, 29 May.

It was a hard game to manage: Corberan

Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan while talking to BBC Radio Leeds addressed the win and complimented Jordan Rhodes for his goal. He said, “It was a difficult and tough game. I cannot tell you that I was enjoying it, it was a hard game to manage. They were better and more comfortable than us in the first half. I think the concentration in the backline and the goalkeeper was massive. Jordan Rhodes had a great contribution, not just with his goal.”

He also expressed how the team is excited to play at Wembly. He said, “I'm really, really excited and motivated to take the team to Wembley. I think it is important that the players celebrate now because this was the target we had. From tomorrow we have a different target.”
