India all-rounder Hardik Pandya may still be out of reckoning as far as a place in the Playing XI is concerned due to a combination of fitness and form concerns but the skillset that he possesses means he is not too far from a comeback either. Hardik has even been chosen as the captain of the new IPL team Gujarat Titans and is looking at fast-tracking his comeback in limited-overs cricket after having chosen to skip Ranji Trophy.

The ex-Mumbai Indians cricketer took to social media to share an emotional video with his late father on Friday. The song "Hum Akele Hum" was playing at the backdrop as Pandya could be seen turning on the lights and giving a surprise to his father. The Baroda cricketer stated that he is missing his daddy. Notably, Pandya's father breathed his last in January last year.

"I wish I can get a surprise from you like this daddy ❤️ Miss you forever ♾ Keep smiling from above ?," he captioned the post.

Meanwhile, Team India are currently taking on West Indies in a T20I series, the first match of which the Men in Blue won comfortably. When skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about Hardik ahead of the T20Is, he stated that he remains a part of their plans owing to the three skills that he brings to the table.

"Hardik Pandya is an important player, he brings three skills to the table. We have not had a discussion on whether he can play as pure batter or not. It is about everyone being available. Since the T20 World Cup, we have had injuries. The important thing is to get everyone available, once they are available, we will look at the second step,” he said.

"The door is open for everyone, we do not make decisions quickly, we want to go with the right combination because, in Australia, you will get different conditions. You will require different skillsets there, we want to prepare accordingly and we want to cover all the bases," he added.

India will play the second T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata later on Friday (February 18).
