While not many cricketers with an Indian origin have made a mark in Australian cricket, it is a player with one such background who seems to have tasted some amount of success in the Australian domestic cricket circle. And now pacer Gurinder Sandhu has let the world know of his talents with an incredible hat-trick in the ongoing Big Bash League.

Earlier, he had already become the first cricketer to pick two hat-tricks in List A Cricket in Australia and this achievement will add a lot of weight to his already impressive resume. Sandhu created history as he scalped the first hat-trick by a Thunder bowler. Sandhu now has a remarkable three hat-tricks to his name.

Sandhu achieved the feat during the game between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers. He completed his hat-trick across two overs and while he initially dismissed Colin Munro off the final ball of the 12th over during Scorchers’ first innings, prompting the New Zealand opener to a mistime a stroke which was caught in the cover region, he then removed Aaron Hardie and Laurie Evans in the first two deliveries off the 16th over to complete a historic feat.

Evans had tried to go for the slog, looking for the big hit and managed to edge it to the keeper to enable Sandhu to complete his hat-trick. The video of his achievement was shared by Cricket Australia on their social media page. "Gurinder Sandhu now has not one, not two, but THREE domestic hat-tricks to his name. INCREDIBLE! A BKT Golden Moment | #BBL11," read the caption of the post.

The hat-trick happens to be a rare feat in general but talking about the Australian T20 competition, spinner Xavier Doherty was the first-ever to take a hat-trick in this tournament- a feat he achieved while representing the Hobart Hurricanes. Adelaide Strikers' Rashid Khan and Melbourne Stars' Haris Rauf have also taken a hat-trick in the BBL before Sandhu.
