The fifth Test between India and England is poised at a tantalising position after the first day’s play at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on Friday. While the rescheduled game has been making all the headlines with Rishabh Pant’s century, an unlikely incident has made the news.  This happened when an intruder tried to interrupt the play on the first day of the Test as Indian batter Shreyas Iyer was dismissed on 15 runs by James Anderson in the second session.

The individual was seen rushing on the field kitted up in his whites and a bat to replace the dismissed Iyer. But the security rushed to the ground and took him off the field soon after. As the on-field guards escorted the fan out of the ground, the man was seen laughing and jumping around.

Talking about the match, Rishabh Pant was the star of the show on Day 1 as he once again reduced India with a stunning 146 runs knock. Reacting to the brilliant century, Pant in the press conference said, “I don’t focus on the bowler; I focus on what he is bowling. It is not pre-planned that I have to after this bowler, If I feel I can hit the ball, I do that.”

“I like the opposition (England) but I do not think about it much. I just look to give my 100 per cent in every match. My focus is on the cricket I play,” said Pant. “From childhood, my coach Tarak sir told me that you can hit the ball, but work on your defence as well. I keep working on my defence, in Test cricket, defence is important.”
