The ongoing Legends League Cricket, happening in Oman, has been nothing short of entertainment in the last few days. The cricket lovers have been taken on a nostalgic ride with retired stars like Muttiah Muralitharan, Shoaib Akhtar, Sanath Jayasuriya etc. back in action after such a long time. And the legends have certainly put up an exhibition for everyone!
The Pathan brothers – Yusuf and Irfan – who won numerous games for India during their playing career, had played a key role in Maharajas’ victory in the tournament opener against Asia Lions. Much to the delight of everyone, the final league game of the tournament between India Maharajas and World Giants produced an extremely special moment featuring the two stylish all-rounders.
The comradery between the Pathan brothers is well known to everyone, with their father also often seen supporting the two of them from the stadium. A perfect glimpse of the love and respect between the two players was on display on Thursday.
As India Maharajas were chasing a huge target of 229 runs to secure their place in the final, Yusuf Pathan (who was captaining the side in absence of Mohammad Kaif) started to play some big shots. When Yusuf smashed a monstrous 95m six off the bowling of Brett Lee, there was Irfan Pathan in the dressing room who celebrated his brother’s brilliance by performing ‘Bhangra’ in a heartwarming moment for everyone.
