Apart from some nail-biting games, one thing that hogged the limelight was the fielding of all the teams in the Super 12 of T20 World Cup 2021. From Pakistan to Scotland, the teams improved their fielding with every match they played in the main event of the tournament. Team India too fielded brilliantly in the games, despite losing some crucial clashes early in the tournament.
To take the fielding effort to a different level, substitute fielder Ishan Kishan boasted his presence of mind and athleticism during India's game against Scotland at the mega event. It happened in the 17th over that was bowled by Mohammad Shami. After dismissing MacLeod on the first ball of the over, Shami bowled a nearly perfect yorker to the new batter Safyaan Sharif. The newcomer found it hard to get his bat on it and the ball hit his front leg. Given that the ball was sliding down the leg side, the on-field umpire turned down the appeal of Mohammed Shami and company. This is when Ishan Kishan stepped onto the scene to bring a wicket for India out of nowhere.
Sensing an opportunity to sneak a single, Safyaan Sharif asked the fellow batter to take a single. However, an alert Ishan Kishan, who got the ball in front of him after it struck Sharif's pad, spotted what the two batters were trying to do. Amidst all this, Sharif had crossed almost half of the pitch before returning back to save his wicket. As wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant hadn't arrived yet to collect the ball behind the stumps, Ishan Kishan showed amazing reflex as he didn't throw the ball and ran with it towards the striker's end to run Sharif out.

India bundle out Scotland for 85 runs
Riding on a sensational bowling effort, India bundled out Scotland for mere 85 runs. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja returned identical figures of 3/15 in their respective three and four overs. Jasprit Bumrah was equally impressive in his economical spell of 2/10 in 3.4 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin was also decent with the ball as he returned 1/29. George Munsey was the best batter for the Scottish Saltires with his 24 off 19.
