Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has been under constant pressure since the 2022 IPL auction. The Jharkhand born player was picked by the Mumbai Indians for a price of Rs 15.25 crore, making him the most expensive player of the auction. The Pocket-Rocket had a great start to the season but in the last few games has lost his way.

His bad patch of form continued in the game against Lucknow Super Giants as the 23-year-old was clean bowled by Marcus Stoinis after scoring 13 in 17 balls. While chasing the total of 200, Kishan looked decent at the start of the innings but faltered and lost his wicket cheaply once again. As returned to the dressing room, he couldn't control his anger and smashed the boundary cushion on his way back.

So far in the 2022 IPL, Ishan Kishan has scored 191 runs at an average of 38.20 and a strike rate of 117.18. But the majority of these runs were scored in the first matches where he put up 81 and 54 against Delhi and Rajasthan respectively. Since then his highest score has been 26 against Bangalore.

"He’s not worth blowing nearly your whole salary on," Watson

DC assistant coach Shane Watson has recently given his opinion on Ishan Kishan’s pick up on the Grade Cricketer podcast. Watto there talked about how Kishan is a great player but isn’t worth the price tag of Rs 15.25 crore.

He said, “It hasn’t surprised me that MI are at the bottom of the table because they had a shocking auction. Spending so much money on Ishan Kishan… He is a very talented and skilful player, but he’s not worth blowing nearly your whole salary on. And then, going for Jofra Archer, not knowing whether he is going to come back in. He hasn’t played cricket for quite a while. They have got quite a few holes in the team.”
