Although injury remains a part and parcel of a sportsperson's life, nobody would want a key player of their side injured in a crucial phase of the tournament. In a big news coming in from the Mumbai Indians side, their captain Rohit Sharma received a blow on his wrist when Ishan Kishan was trying to hit a Glenn Maxwell delivery straight down the ground.

Kishan played the shot with so much power that Rohit hardly had any time to react and all he could do was try to put his hand towards it. Consequently, the 34-year-old was hit seemingly on the wrists and received some medical attention. However, post a few minutes of stoppage time later, Rohit seemed good to continue but in trying to go for the big shot as part-time bowler Maxi was quickly going through a good over, The Hitman got caught on the deep.

An official word on Rohit's injury hasn't come yet but he is expected to be fine for the next match.

Check out the video of Kishan's shot here:

It hasn't been an ideal restart to the tournament for the defending champions. While they had finished the first half in the first half of the points table, they haven't tasted a win in the UAE leg of the competition so far. Even in the ongoing run chase against Bangalore, they find themselves in a tricky situation after the dismissal of their skipper.

Meanwhile, Bangalore too have had a disastrous second half so far, not only by the defeats but also in the manner in which they came. While Virat Kohli & Co were bowled out for under 100 against Kolkata, they were yet again outplayed in the match against Chennai.

Kohli, meanwhile, has decided to step down as the captain of the RCB side after the conclusion of the ongoing season. Having made that decision, he would be keen to end his reign as the skipper of the Bangalore franchise with at least a trophy to his credit and a win against Mumbai tonight could be a huge step towards that dream for the Challengers.
