The 94th Academy awards went viral as Will Smith and Chris Rock had an altercation on a joke made by the latter on Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. Everyone on the internet has enjoyed memes and parodies of the incident. Similarly, former Boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya recreated Will Smith’s reaction after the altercation in a fun way during an interview about his promotions and upcoming events with Fight Hype.

While talking to ESNEWS, De La Hoya was questioned about his girlfriend fighting in a celebrity match. De La Hoya gave a witty answer as he mimicked Will Smith by saying, “Keep My Girlfriend’s name out of your mouth!”.

But when specifically asked about the altercation, the Golden Boy talked about how Will Smith should have discussed the issues with Chris Rock backstage. But De La Hoya supported Smith in defending his wife. He said,  “Will Smith was defending his wife. Yes. But, do it backstage. Do it, you know, privately. You don’t do it like on the, on the global stage like the Oscars.”

During the award function, Will Smith went to win the Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role in the film King Richard. The movie revolves around the life story of  Richard Williams, the father and coach of former world number one tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, who are executive producers of the film. The movie earned six nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, seven nominations at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, six nominations at the 27th Critics' Choice Awards and four nominations at the 79th Golden Globe Awards.
