Eric Farrington had been a lifelong fan of the Premier League club, Liverpool. He started supporting the Reds when he was only ten and cheered for them till his last breath. Although Farrington passed away in June this year, he enjoyed being a Reds fan till the very end. For his selfless love for the club, Farrington also got a gift from Kenny Dalglish before he bid adieu to the world on 8 June 2022.

In a video shared by Anfield Wrap, Farrington narrates the story of him becoming a Liverpool fan. He starts by describing how tough it was for the people during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic struck. He then talks about him becoming a Reds fan. Eric’s daughter also revealed how his father turned her mother into a Liverpool fan as well after the two met.

“He’s got extensive knowledge on Liverpool. It’s just passion that shines through him,” says Eric’s daughter while talking about Farrington’s love for the club. He is a big fan of Kenny Dalglish. So, if we ever fell over, it was like, ‘Get yourself up, pick yourself up. Be like Kenny, King Kenny’.”

Farrington, meanwhile, starts narrating his story as a Liverpool fan. “I became a Liverpool supporter when I was ten years old. You know, on the big occasions, on the big night we have at Anfield, there is nothing like that in football,” says Farrington. “You couldn’t wish to support a better club, to be honest,” he adds.

The video then shows Kenny Dalglish paying a visit to Farrington. Seeing his hero in front of his eyes, Farrington’s eyes lit up as he says “Hello Kenny. Good to see you!”. The two then go through Farrington’s journey. Dalglish then asks if the old-age fan likes the current team. “What do you think of the team at this particular moment in time. Are you happy with them, you’re happy with Jurgen?” asks Dalglish. To which Farrington replies, “I’m happy with all of them”.

The video then shows Farrington paying a visit to Anfield to watch Liverpool’s last game of the season.
