Kieron Pollard is an entertaining character. He keeps the field lit up till he is in the middle. His acrobatic efforts while fielding, lusty blows while batting, and out-of-the-box action while bowling keeps the viewers entertained. However, it is not always that the cricketer gets involved in such incidents willingly. Sometimes they do happen accidentally.

The same happened during Mumbai Indians' match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday evening (09 May). The Mumbai Indians player got involved in a funny incident that caught the attention of the spectators. Pollard, while bowling in the middle, hit the on-field umpire with the ball.

The incident took place in the 10th over of the KKR innings. Between the fourth and the fifth delivery of the over, Pollard accidentally hit Chris Gaffney. While trying to bowl the fifth delivery, Pollard lost control of the ball in his stride and it slipped out of his hand. The ball then hit Gaffney on his stomach. The umpire, not ready for that blow, looked in pain for a while. However, he was seen smiling after Pollard apologized to him.

Mumbai Indians pull Kolkata down!

After a fiery start to the innings, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) collapsed in the middle overs and could only score 165/9 where they seemed to score over 180 at one moment. KKR lost 4 wickets for just 20 runs and were reduced to 156/8 from 136/4. Most of the damage was inflicted by Mumbai spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who lit up the stadium with his fiery spell of 4-1-10-5.

The right-arm quick seemed too hot to handle at the fag end of the innings as he conceded only 5 runs in his last three overs. He also bowled a triple-wicket maiden. The MI pacer was so good that Rinku Singh could only score one run off his last over which was also KKR's 20th over.
