In what hasn’t been particularly a great season for Mercedes and particularly for the former world champion Lewis Hamilton, there was some relief and spark at the Canadian Grand Prix with the Briton finishing third to mark his second podium finish of the season. However, given Hamilton’s form in the build-up to this race, it seems like not many in the Mercedes camp itself believed that Hamilton could finish on the podium.
In a recent video shared by Mercedes on their social media account, Hamilton can be seen pushing the team physio Angela into the river as she had bet against Hamilton on the podium and had said that she would jump into the river if Hamilton were to prove her wrong. As it turned out, the 37-year-old did manage to prove Angela wrong.
“Get in there, Ang! 💦🤣 Angela said if Lewis finished on the podium she’d jump in the river. She just needed a little push… 😆,” the video was captioned by the Mercedes F1 team.

“It feels great to be in amongst the battle,” said Hamilton after the race.
“For a second I was kind of keeping up with these guys. It’s given me and the team a lot of hope that there’s more to come from this car, the potential is there,” he added.
“When you get a full race distance you find a lot out with the car. A lot to take from today. Got really good reliability. Great work from the team. Just got to keep our heads down. I know where I’m losing to these guys, so that’s where I’m going to focus on attacking to improve,” he further said.
Hamilton said that it was special to get a positive result at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve a venue where he has been in great form over the course of his career, managing seven wins with the first of those coming back in 2007.
