Argentina football team captain Lionel Messi has all kinds of trophies and medals in his cabinet. However, the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner is still in search of glory at the international stage. He has come extremely close to few occasions (2014 World Cup, 2015 and 2016 Copa America) but has unfortunately failed to cross the final hurdle.

In pursuit of fulfilling his dream, the 34-year-old is leaving no stones unturned to guide his national team to a historic triumph in the ongoing Copa America in Brazil. Messi produced a masterclass performance against Bolivia which left everyone in awe of the magician for the umpteenth time in his career.

Messi shines on his 148th appearance for Argentina

In the final match of group stages, Argentina were up against Bolivia. Lionel Messi, who was making a record-breaking 148th appearance for his country, certainly celebrated the feat in style as he guided his side to a comfortable 4-1 win. The Barcelona legend produced a sensational assist for Papu Gomez who opened the scoring with a sublime finish in the 6th minute of the game.

Argentina were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Gomez as Messi scored his first goal of the contest with a well-taken penalty. To cap of the victory, the 34-year-old produced a gorgeous chip over the opponent's goalkeeper to score one of the best goals of the tournament after Sergio Aguero had found him with a long pass.

Argentina will now face Equador in the quarter-final of Copa America 2021 on Sunday (IST 6:30 pm onwards). The fans would certainly be hoping that their captain can take his fantastic form into the knockouts and lead them to a much-awaited title in Brazil.
