Performing under pressure is certainly one of the dreams of every player, irrespective of the game he or she plays. When we talk about cricket in particular, the case is no different, pressure, here as well, plays a big role as at times, some players choke when they are under the pump, while some defy the odds to write history. The latter case was witnessed on Thursday in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinal game that was played between Karnataka and Bengal.
Chasing 161, Bengal were well on course of reaching home as they needed to score just one run off the final ball. Karnataka's Vidyadhar Patil bowled a yorker to Bengal's batter Akash Deep. The latter tapped the ball on the off side to steal a single. However, an alert Manish Pandey, who also happens to be the skipper of the side, quickly ran from short cover to pick the ball and hit the bull's eye at the non-striker end. Akash Deep was caught well short of his crease and the match went to the super over.

Manish Pandey takes Karnataka into semi-final
In the super over, KC Cariappa dismissed Kaif Ahmed on the second ball of the over before Sreevats Goswami lost his wicket on a run-out. The consequences saw Bengal scoring mere 5 runs in 4 balls their batters faced. Chasing a 6-run target, Manish Pandey came to the middle with Karun Nair, however, the latter couldn't contribute much as Pandey ran a couple after taking the strike on the first ball, before he sealed the affair for Karnataka with an amazing six on the very second delivery he faced.
Talking more about the game, Karun Nair's unbeaten 55 off 29 had played a huge role in propelling Karnataka to 160/5 after Bengal won the toss and opted to field first. Rohan Kadam's 30 also helped Karnataka's cause but none of the other batters put up noticeable contribution. In return, Writtick Chatterjee (51 off 40) and Ritwik Chowdhury (36* off 18) played crucial knocks to keep Bengal alive in the game. Ritwik Chowdhury even hit the first two balls of the final over for sixes, however, he failed to take his side home.
