The eighth game of the league phase of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Last year's runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders are playing against Punjab Kings. After choosing to field first, Shreyas Iyer and his men were able to bowl out Punjab for a mere 137. Umesh Yadav was the leader of the bowling attack with his four wickets in the innings.

Although Punjab put a below-par total on the board, their captain Mayank Agarwal was in no mood to let KKR walk away with the game easily. He was asking his fielders to keep charging at the KKR batters. In the process, he also lost his cool for a while. In one of the overs inside the powerplay, the Punjab captain was seen shouting at one of his fielders (probably Shahrukh Khan) for not moving around nicely on the field.

Punjab blown away by Russell Storm

Although the Kings tried their best to stop KKR below 138, they failed. The reason was some mad hitting from one of the best power hitters in the game of cricket. Andre Russell was up to the task for his team after KKR lost four early wickets for just 51 runs. The West Indies all-rounder, famous for his lusty blows, did hold his instincts for a while. He did not slog right from the start but as soon as there was an opportunity, Russell opened his arms and sent the ball flying into the stands.

He played a gem of an innings to bail his team out of trouble. Russell ended the game with an unbeaten 70 off just 31 balls. His innings included two fours and eight massive sixes. He was ably supported by Sam Billings who held the other end intact and took calculated risks. Billings scored 24* off 23 balls. Earlier, Umesh Yadav starred for KKR with his 4-wicket haul while bowling.
