Messi is yet to score the first goal for his new club Paris Saint-Germain. He had his chances against Lyon but was denied firstly by the opposition players and then by Mauricio Pochettino. The PSG manager substituted Messi in the 76th minute which didn't go down well with the former Barcelona player.
With less than 15 minutes to go into the 90-minute mark, Messi and Angel Di Maria were called off the field by Pochettino as PSG was looking for the winning goal. Messi was replaced by Mauro Icardi, which went down well, neither with him nor with his fans. Messi was furious when he walked off and it was confirmed when he snubbed the handshake from Pochettino. The latter tried to get validation for his decision but he got an unwanted answer.

The fans were bemused at this and even started for a new coach for PSG. "Messi off, TV off," one user tweeted. "Your coach is confused. Sign Antonio Conte," another one suggested.
"Poch has compromised his career. I have never seen Messi subbed in my entire life unless he is injured. You saw how angry he was when he is subbed," a Messi fan exclaimed.
PSG successfully beat Lyon 2-1
Talking about the result of the game, it ended well for the Parisians as they finished the game with a scoreline of 2-1 in their favour, thanks to the goal from Mauro Icardi, ‘the substitute’ in the added time (90+3’). Before that, PSG took the field with an attacking line-up with Messi starting alongside Ángel Di María, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé in the front four. However, it did not work for them as they fell behind after a Lucas Paquetá goal just after half-time.
Neymar brought them back in the game in the 66th minute with a penalty goal but nothing good happened to PSG post that. This compelled Pochettino to bring in the substitutions which eventually worked.
