Michael Bracewell had an evening to remember on Wednesday when he became only the third New Zealand bowler to take a hat-trick in men's T20Is. He achieved the feat in the second T20I against Ireland in Belfast as the Kiwis registered an 88-run win over Ireland to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

While Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first, they conceded 179/4 with Blackcaps wicketkeeper batter Dane Cleaver top-scoring with an unbeaten 78 off 55 balls. In response, the home team were bundled out for 91 with Bracewell scalping 3 wickets in the five balls that finished off the game.

While two (Mark Adair and Barry McCarthy) of these three victims were caught in the deep, the third of his three dismissals, that of Craig Young, was caught at backward point. Notably, Bracewell was bowling for the first time in T20Is with this being the second T20I of his career. Jacob Oram and Tim Southee are the only other Kiwi bowlers to have taken a hat-trick in men's T20Is before this.
