Afghanistan kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign on Monday with a game against Scotland in Group B of the 2021 T20 World Cup. On the other hand, the Scottish Saltires are coming into the contest after registering three consecutive victories in Round 1 of the event which helped them advance to the tournament proper. Meanwhile, Afghanistan had already qualified for the main event based on their T20I ranking.

The game started with Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi winning the toss and opting to bat first against Scotland at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. While it was the duo of Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad which the crowd was desperately waiting to watch unleashing on the ground, an emotional moment caught everyone's attention minutes before Afghanistan's innings. The man who hogged the limelight was none other than Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi.

As Nabi started singing the national anthem of Afghanistan with his teammates, he got emotional and started crying. However, soon after the national anthem ended, he was seen wiping out his tears.
