MS Dhoni is not looking like the pale shadow of himself as a batter that he had started to look like in IPL 2020 and 2021. This year he has been in fine form. While he scored a fine unbeaten fifty in the tournament opener vs Kolkata Knight Riders, he was back in the crease during the dying stages of the Chennai innings in the match against Lucknow Super Kings.

And the master finisher started his innings with a six. Avesh Khan had banged the ball in short but Dhoni slashed at it hard and opened his account with a maximum. He then followed it up with a boundary through the point region as the spectators began chanting Dhoni.. Dhoni.. at the Brabourne Stadium.

Have a look at Dhoni's first-ball six here:

As Dhoni finished with an unbeaten 16 off 6 balls and CSK reached 210, many CSK fans would have thought that they surely have posted enough runs on the board. However, as it turned out, it wasn't enough and Chennai Super Kings were handed a six-wicket defeat. Quinton de Kock scored 61 but it was the finish powered by Evin Lewis (55*) and Ayush Badoni (19*) that helped the KL Rahul-led Lucknow register their first-ever win in IPL.
