With the league stages of IPL 2021 almost coming towards an end, all eyes were on the first match of double header on the 'Thrilling Thursday'. While Chennai Super Kings came into the contest to break their two-match losing streak ahead of the play-offs, Punjab Kings were looking for a miracle to progress ahead in the tournament. There was lot to play for both the sides but it was KL Rahul's team who took the onus in first half of the match.

After asking the Yellow Army to bat first, PBKS bowlers were on the target as CSK were restricted to 42/4 in 8.3 overs. This is when captain Dhoni walked out to bat and there was no doubt that he needed to play a big knock to get his side back into the contest. Having not been in great form, fans were delighted to see some positive intent from the CSK skipper in Dubai.

Dhoni hits a gorgeous shot off Bishnoi

The 40-year-old has had his struggles against spin bowling and he was up against the spin duo of Harpreet Brar and Ravi Bishnoi. Dhoni looked quite cautious against Brar but he was looking to target Bishnoi, much to the excitement of everyone. However, it was the first delivery of 12th over when MSD produced one of the shots of innings.

As Bishnoi tried to bowl a leg spin away from MSD, the right-handed batter slammed the ball towards the deep cover boundary while 'Vintage Mahi' was displayed on the big screen.

PBKS youngster has the last laugh

Having been hit for a boundary, Ravi Bishnoi came up with a full fledged plan to take revenge. He bowled a couple of leg-spin deliveries to set the platform, and when MSD returned to strike on last ball of the over, the PBKS spinner absolutely deceived the CSK captain with a googly as the ball crashed onto the stumps.
