MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the most followed cricketers in not only in India but also around the world. While Sachin Tendulkar is revered as the God of Cricket, Dhoni is looked upon as a man for humble beginnings who made it big. Dhoni's reputation also grew in stature after he led India to all possible ICC trophies - the T20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup, the Champions Trophy as well as the number 1 Ranking Test team. Known for his calm and cool demeanor on the field, the Chennai Super Kings superstar is a role model to look upon for many Indians and time and again his quotes and stories go viral.

Whether it is the love for the armed forces or the decision to serve his regiment in the Indian Army before announcing his international retirement or his affection towards animals, MSD never ceases to amaze people. On the occasion of Mother's Day, a five-year-old video featuring the then India captain is doing the rounds on internet. Not only can the Ranchi-born cricketer be seen flaunting the name of his mother on the back of his jersey, he compares the contribution of mothers with that of soldiers.

Check out the video here:

“It was always how emotionally I was connected to my mom. The mother’s contribution is something which we don’t appreciate it that often,” quoted the former skipper. To further add, Dhoni also compared the contribution of mothers to that of soldiers stating that it needs to be appreciated in the same way as that of a soldier, "getting up each morning and thanking them".

CSK had got off a good start in suspended IPL 2021

Meanwhile, Dhoni, who now only plays in the IPL, had led Chennai to a good start this year after a disappointing show in 2020. From seven matches, the Men in Yellow had stitched wins in five games and were sitting comfortably at the second position when the tournament had to be suspended indefinitely due to COVID-19 scare. It remains to be seen if IPL 2021 can be completed in a year with a packed international schedule.
