The Australian tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios was beaten 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (7/5), 1-6 by Hubert Hurkacz of Poland at the ATP Montreal Masters. During the second set, Kyrgios played a perfect drop shot to hit the net cord twice, which rewarded him a point.

Hurkacz broke the nine-match winning streak of Kyrgios with a three-set quarter-final victory on Friday.

After losing the first game, Kyrgios made a comeback in the second game to win it 7/5 in the tie breaker. However, the Polish tennis player reached the semi-final in Canada after winning the third set 6-1.

During the tie breaker of the second set, Kyrgios pulled off a lucky shot that hit the net cord twice. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media as the 27-year-old Australian gave a hilarious reaction on his shot.

After the match, Kyrgios told AFP, "I was just running on fumes a bit towards the end. That's normal. But I feel good, feel confident." Kyrgios went on to confirm his participation in the Cincinnati Open 2022 as he said, "I've got three or four days of rest until Cincinnati. I'm going to use that, really capitalize and just rest and recover."

Meanwhile, World No. 3 Rafael Nadal, who last played in Wimbledon quarterfinals last month, has also announced his participation in the last hard-court tournament of the year before the US Open 2022 begins.
