MS Dhoni is one of the greats of the game. While his legacy as a captain of the Indian cricket team remains unmatched, his contribution as a wicketkeeper-batter and as one of the world's best finishers is immense. Moreover, his journey from humble beginning to becoming the only captain in the world have to have lifted all ICC trophies is the perfect middle-class fantasy. This is what makes Dhoni such an inspirational person not only for Indians but for millions around the globe who connect with some part of his journey.

Even those in the opposition dugout seem to admire MSD not only for the cricketer that he was in the international arena but also for how he continues to carry himself on and off the field. One such incident was at display ahead of Team India's high-voltage match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on October 24, 2021.

While the teams were at the venue for their practice and other pre-match rituals, 23-year-old Pakistan fast bowling sensation Shahnawaz Dahani noticed India mentor Dhoni and could not resist trying to have a brief chat with the India legend. In a video now going viral, the two even had a short conversation with each other.

Dhoni joined Team India after leading Chennai Super Kings to their record fourth IPL title. He was earlier announced as the Team India mentor by the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah when India's 15-member squad for the World Event was announced.

Wanted to involve MS Dhoni as mentor for a long time: Ganguly

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in a recent interview revealed the rationale behind Dhoni's inclusion in the Team India setup.

"Jay (Shah) and I were discussing for a long time about how to involve Dhoni. He has won 2 World Cups after all and has not left cricket completely. Hopefully, he will be a good addition. It can't possibly be bad. Let's see," Sourav Ganguly told India Today.

When quizzed on the possibility of an ego clash between head coach Ravi Shastri, India captain Virat Kohli and now another big name in Dhoni, Ganguly said that Dhoni is a mature individual and he would know where to stop.

"Ravi Shastri is the head coach, Virat is the captain and MS will just help them. MS is a mature person, he will know what to say when. I am sure all this was discussed and so hope for the best. He is just for this trip," he said.
