Pakistan Women registered their maiden win in the World Cup 2022 edition on Monday by defeating West Indies Women by 8-wickets. It was quite a special occasion for them as they tasted their first win in the ICC event since 2009. After rain reduced the match to 20-overs, Bismah Maroof-led's side showed exemplary bowling display and restricted West Indies Women at 89-7 in 20 overs. Nida Dar clinched four crucial wickets in the game and kept the opponents at bay, while other bowlers provided solid assistance.

For West Indies, opener Deandra Dottin showed some resilience by scoring 27 in 35 balls, while other batters could not make the mark in high-stake games. While chasing, Pakistan Woman chased down the total at the loss of just two wickets and 18.5 overs. Muneeba Ali (37 off 43), played a crucial knock for her side, along with skipper Bismah Maroof (20 off 29) and Omaima Sohail (22 off 27).

Post the victory, the players were seen in the middle of a special celebration as they got together in a huddle and started singing the famous patriotic song "Dil Dil Pakistan." The video was shared by the ICC.

ICC shared the video with the caption, "A winning performance on and off the field." The video instantly got hit on Twitter and was shared widely with many users who applauded Pakistan Women for their impressive performance. Earlier, Pakistan lost all their games in the tournament despite performing well with bat and bowl. Due to this, Pakistan is at the bottom of the points table in World Cup.

Meanwhile, West Indies started well. They defeated teams like New Zealand and England but lost the momentum halfway and were handed over defeat by Australian Women, Indian Women and now Pakistan Women.

However, West Indies Women are placed at third position in the points table. Pakistan Women will now face defending champions England Women on 24th March, while West Indies Women will lock horns with South Africa Women on the same day.
