There is little doubt that Pat Cummins is a runaway matchwinner. However, while his primary ability remains his skill to swing the new ball and help his side get the wickets with his pace and bounce, he is a handy batter in white-ball cricket. However, it was his batting that turned the match on its head during Kolkata Knight Riders' game against Mumbai Indians at the MCA International Stadium in Pune on Wednesday.

Cummins in fact scored the joint-fastest half-century in IPL history and finished with an unbeaten 56 off 15 deliveries. At one stage KKR needed 35 runs in the last five overs but Cummins scored all of that in one over alone with the help of a no-ball from the bowler Sams.
