The EURO 2020 match between Turkey and Wales at Baku Olympic Stadium was undoubtedly one of the most heated matches of the tournament so far. It was a crucial contest for both sides as Turkey came into this contest on the back of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Italy, while Wales had secured only a draw against Switzerland. With the outcome of this match so crucial with respect to the standings in Group A, both sides gave it all on Wednesday.

Aaron Ramsey scored a beautiful goal in the first half to put Wales 1-0 ahead. Gareth Bale's side defended valiantly in the second half to maintain the narrow advantage while Turkey continued to attack. With the match coming to an end and Turkey getting more and more frustrated, tempers flared and shockingly players got themselves into a fight much to the shock of everyone.

What actually happened in Baku?

It was in the extra time when Wales' centre-back Joe Rodon put his head on the line to deny Turkey's captain Burak Yilmaz an opportunity to score the equalizer. As Yilmaz was checking on Rodon who was down on the ground, Wales' duo of Ben Davies (No. 4) and Connor Roberts (No. 14) pushed Yilmaz which angered the Turkey captain. He got up and went straight to Ben Davies and the duo was involved in a heated tussle.

The experience Portuguese referee Artur Soares Dias took charge of the situation and managed the whole situation brilliantly. While Burak Yilmaz and Ben Davies received yellow cards for their actions, the referee also booked defender Chris Mepham who was also later involved in the fight. VAR checked the whole sequence of events and no red card was given to any player.
