After the Men in Blue were bowled out for 170 in the second innings, New Zealanders’ hopes were strong and alive as eventually grit and composure of skipper Kane Williamson & Ross Taylor finally took the team above the line to lift the title.
Although, all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin’s two early wickets did give a ray of hope to India going ahead in the game, they found it hard as they continued to struggle on the last day and last session of the ultimate Test.
But, here the two-year-long journey to this ultimate Test is finally over with the New Zealand picking the mace and becoming the champions of the much-anticipated ICC tournament. Although the celebrations began at the Hampshire Bowl, the team was still calm before the storm.
But what the end hold, was what grabbed the eyes of the fans. The last boundary by Ross Taylor not only got Kiwi players in the dressing room together jumping in joy, but even the spectators were also jumping with excitement.
