When Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint Germain from FC Barcelona ahead of the 2021-22 season, the world of football witnessed the craziest scenes in the history of the game. There was literally a festive atmosphere in the city of Paris and the fans were just so excited to have the world’s most feared attacking trio featuring Messi, Neymar and Mbappe. Fast forward 7 months and nothing is the same anymore.

PSG suffered a shocking exit from UEFA Champions League, a title their fans have been craving for so long. Despite leading by 2-0 on aggregate with only 60 minutes left, they succumbed under pressure and Real Madrid produced an epic comeback to knock PSG out of competition.

Shocking scenes at Parc des Princes

As the side came to play their first game after that loss, the players were treated with a shocking reception from PSG fans at Parc des Princes. Ahead of the home game against Bordeaux, the supporters booed everyone, except Kylian Mbappe (who scored two goals over two legs against Real Madrid), as the playing XI was announced on the day.

A similar response continued during the match as well, especially for the two-star players – Neymar and Messi, who have come under scrutiny for their performance against Real Madrid. Whenever the two players touched the ball on Sunday, they were booed by PSG supporters resulting in some shocking scenes ever.

PSG win the game 3-0

It was quite unexpected as Lionel Messi has never been treated like this, even by away fans throughout his career. It will be intriguing to see if this reaction from fans results in one of the greatest ever players in the history of football considering a move away from the club in the summer.

Meanwhile, PSG registered a 3-0 win on the day on the back of goals from Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Leandro Paredes. Messi was once again unfortunate to miss out on a goal after he struck the woodwork for 7th time this season.
