The 2022 edition of the Women's T20 Challenge, which brought the best out of the women cricketers, ended with a fitting finale as the summit clash went down to the wire. In the last over, Sophie Ecclestone's brilliant yorkers to Laura Woolvdart helped Supernovas clinch the final contest by just four runs and lift the trophy for a record third time. Velocity needed 17 runs in the last six balls, and Laura Wolvaardt (55 off 36) went for a maximum on the first ball, bringing down the arithmetic to 11 off five deliveries.

However, Eccelstone held her nerve and bounced back with a perfect couple of yorker to restrict Velocity four runs behind the target. The contest between two quality teams was right on the money as it went down to the last over with two of the best cricketers against each other. The four-match tournament saw the brilliance of some young domestic players and allowed them to showcase their potential on the big stage.

While the final edition of the Women's T20 Challenge concluded with a thrilling contest, the crowd at MCA Stadium in Pune was seen expressing their desire for women's IPL. The crowd chanted 'We want Women's IPL' during the thrilling last two overs of the summit clash.

He tweeted, "The quality of cricket one witnessed in Women's T20 Challenge was truly remarkable with the best Indian talent rubbing shoulders with the best in the world. The future is promising, and the next season will be much bigger. @ImHarmanpreet @BCCIWomen."

Post-match, Deandra Dottin was rewarded with Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament award for her brilliant performance throughout the competition. She scored 62 off 44 deliveries and picked two wickets for 28 runs in her four overs to ensure comprehensive victory for Supernovas.
