Winning one Olympic medal is a dream for many Indian athletes but winning two is just outrageous! India's PV Sindhu has done the unthinkable after she entered the history books on Sunday. As she clinched a bronze medal in women's badminton singles after her win over China's He Bingjiao 21-13 21-15, the Indian shuttler became only the second-ever Indian athlete to win two individual Olympic medals, after Sushil Kumar. Notably, the 26-year-old had also secured a silver medal at Rio Olympics 2016.

After her heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei's TY Tai on Saturday by 18-21 12-21, all eyes were on Sindhu if she can bounce back in the bronze medal match. All the doubts were put to rest in style as the reigning world champion put on a flawless performance.

Sindhu clinches bronze medal with an emphatic win

It was a dominant display by Sindhu right from the beginning of the match as she played some delightful drop shots, coupled with some lethal smashes throughout the match. She never let her Chinese opponent settle into a rhythm. Whenever Bingjiao tried to pave her way back into the contest, Sindhu produced a moment of brilliance to get the momentum back in her favour. She eventually won the match quite comfortably in straight sets with the score reading 21-13 21-15.

Talking about the historic moment, Sindhu did not let her fans wait too long after getting the match point. As soon as she secured the penultimate point, she guaranteed herself at least five opportunities to seal the bronze medal. However, she was not in a mood to delay the process.

Serving at her first bronze medal point, she drove her opponent into a long rally and tried to keep it quite simple. While knowing that she was on top, Sindhu played the point very smartly and tired her opponent. Citing an opportunity to seal the match, the Indian shuttler came up with a monstrous smash before playing a delightful shot across the court shot to complete a historic win for India.
