Table-topper Gujarat Titans (GT) are up against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 48 of IPL 2022. Hardik Pandya went against the trend of bowling first after winning the toss and chose to set a target. However, the Titans did not have the best of starts with Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha falling inside the powerplay.

Hardik Pandya also could not do much as he departed after scoring 1 run off 7 balls. Sai Sudharshan and David Miller, however, tried to rescue Gujarat but Miller fell to a dipping delivery from Liam Livingston. And once again it fell on the shoulders of Rahul Tewatia to help his team set a fighting total.

Tewatia also had Sudharsan at the other end who was steadily building his innings. With the pressure of scoring runs creeping up, Tewatia, who generally remains calm, lost his cool at his partner after he survived a runout chance. In the 12th over of the Gujarat innings, Tewatia tried to sneak a single and was almost halfway down the pitch.

But he did not get the desired response from Sudharsan and almost lost his wicket. This did not sit well with the batter and he was visibly seen angry at his partner.

Sai Sudarshan fights for Gujarat's 143

Now coming to the batting performance put by Gujarat Titans, the Hardik Pandya-led side struggled big-time against PBKS bowlers as they could only score 143 runs in their designated 20 overs. Gujarat had Sai Sudarshan to thank as the young batter fought throughout the innings to propel Gujarat to a fighting total. Sudarshan scored 65* off 50 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six to help his team cross 140.

Sudarshan did not get enough support from the other end as wickets kept tumbling. Apart from Sai, only Wriddhiman Saha (21 off 17), David Miller (11 off 14), and Rahul Tewatia (11 off 13) entered into double digits.
