On what looked like a forgettable day for India after the first session of the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, it has turned out to be a memorable one for everyone. Shreyas Iyer's classy counter-attacking innings guided the home side to a competitive 252-run total in the first innings on a difficult wicket for batters and the final session of Day 1, under lights, was a treat for Indian bowlers.

Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc with their new-ball spell as the visitors had no answers to India's lethal bowling. The pink ball was doing its work, the pitch was doing its own thing while the two fast-bowlers were unfolding their magic.

Brilliant DRS by India

These are the kind of days when no appreciation looks enough which is why Ravichandran Ashwin produced something extremely unique and hilarious to acknowledge Shami's heroic spell. After the pacer trapped Dhananjaya de Silva in front, the umpire signaled it as not-out but. But he, along with Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli, convinced Rohit Sharma to take the DRS, and the decision was eventually reversed.

Following the wicket, Ashwin went towards Shami and actually played 'tabla' on the head of the pacer in probably one of the most funny celebrations ever seen on the field of cricket. The Indian pacer also seemed to have enjoyed the musical performance, which was also like a head massage, something which he certainly deserved after bowling an impressive spell.

At the end of the day's play, Shami's bowling figures read 6-1-18-2 while Bumrah was also impressive with his 7-3-15-3. The two experienced pacers certainly put up a show for fans in Bengaluru.
