The return of Ravindra Jadeja in the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka produced a few predictable things on the field – Great spin bowling, spectacular fielding and Pushpa fever. While the quality all-rounder was missing out of action for some time, he ensured his return didn’t go in vain as he entertained cricket fans in his best capacities. While Jadeja could not produce the knock with the bat which he is widely known for, he delivered the magic with his bowling.
While defending the mammoth total, India maintained its grip from the first ball of 2nd innings. Veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar surprised Pathum Nissanka (0 off 1) on the first ball as the length ball stayed low and dislocated the bail, leaving the batter stunned.
Jadeja returns from injury in style
While Kumar provided the perfect start to the hosts, other bowlers like Venkatesh Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal kept delivering breakthroughs at regular intervals. However, while India bowlers kept the Sri Lankan batters at bay, Jadeja joined the party in style.
It was the 10th over of the match, which saw the best of Jadeja. The left-arm spinner got wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Chandimal clueless with a quick delivery, which turned big to miss the outside edge. Kishan, having the best of the days, was in no mood to miss the easiest stumping.
Following Chandimal’s wicket, Jadeja celebrated his return with the ‘Thaggede Le’ gesture from the Telugu movie Pushpa, also famously known as ‘Main Jhukega Nahi’ style on social media.

Jadeja (1/28) once again proved his authority with the bowl and continued being a quality entertainer of the game. Speaking of the match, India bowlers reaffirmed their grip in the game by dismissing visitors regularly and keeping India’s hold over the opposition.
However, Sri Lankan middle-order batter Charith Asalanka* (53* off 47) tried to close the gap but the visitors still fell short of the target by 62 runs. Earlier, Ishan Kishan (89 off 56) along with Rohit Sharma (44 off 32) provided a solid foundation to Team India while batting first, which was later capitalized by Shreyas Iyer (57* off 28) in the middle-order.
