While the story of the race between a tortoise and a hare dates long back and has been probably circulating since at least a few generations now, an old video of the two animals racing in real life has resurfaced again. As in the story, it is the "slow and steady" tortoise who has the last laugh and even though the hare has taken a lead, he refuses to travel any further after reaching the halfway mark.

Thus much like the legend that has been depicted in children's books, even in real life, the tortoise wins the race. The video also contains the text: "The legend was true after all."

Check out the video here:

The race seemingly happened in 2016 and first went viral on the internet in 2017 from a Twitter account which now stands suspended. However, it has been covered extensively by various publications and then was almost forgotten, lost time before it resurfaced again in 2021.

The video is a perfect reminder that there might actually be some element of truth in the fables that have travelled through generations and seeped down to the current crop of people. It is also being learned that there have been several other races of the same kind with humans determined to figure out if there is any truth to the metaphor of the tortoise beating the hare.

Irrespective of the lesson it originally meant to give children, the video makes for a great view as it represents the ultimate underdog story - where hare - the favourite to win based on its reputation of speed fails to beat tortoise who is known for its lazy and laid back attitude but manages to crawl slowly to the finish line leaving the audience stunned.

Meanwhile, as far as the racing scenario is concerned, it was all about Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen the past few days in the F1 racing circuit after he dramatically overtook Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton in the last lap of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to claim his maiden world title. Mercedes though managed to emerge as the best team yet again.
