Chennai Super Kings failed to win the toss in the ongoing IPL 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday. As expected, KL Rahul won the toss and chose to field first. Although Avesh Khan was given the new ball and bowled the first over, he conceded 14 runs in the first over.

Yet the event which caught the attention of fans and players alike was when CSK opener Robin Uthappa got hit on his helmet in the fourth ball of the opening over. The right-handed batter could not keep his eyes on the ball and it hit him hard on the head. However, he seemed fine and continued batting.

Later, Uthappa played a fine innings and took control of the situation. The right-handed batter unleashed his full range of strokes and completed his half-century off 25 balls. The ex IPL orange cap winner scored 8 boundaries and 1 six during his innings that beautifully set up Chennai for a big total despite Ruturaj Gaikwad's poor outing. Gaikwad, who has been retained by the franchise, got run out for just 1 but Uthappa's counter-attack coupled with contributions from Moeen Ali meant Chennai managed to reach 73/1 inside the powerplay overs.
