A big knock from India's star opener Rohit Sharma and his gigantic sixes were due in the ongoing T20 World Cup and the right-handed batter finally came back to his form. While the first two matches in the tournament saw Rohit getting dismissed for a duck (against Pakistan) followed by a run-a-ball 14 (against New Zealand), India's game against Afghanistan on Wednesday witnessed the dangerous Rohit Sharma taking the opposition bowlers to the cleaners at will.

Among the many other glorious shots that Rohit played on the night, one that stood apart was a sensational six over long-off. After getting hit for a four early in the over, Naveen-ul-Haq fed the Hitman with a full ball on the slot and the classy Indian batter duly received the opportunity and tonked the ball for a biggie. What made the overall scene look more beautiful was Virat Kohli catching in the dugout.

The Indian batter reached his fifty on 37 balls before getting further monstrous and making it a night to forget for Afghanistan. In the next 9 balls he faced, Rohit scored 21 runs before losing his wicket on the following delivery. He hit star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan for two consecutive sixes in the 14th over to boast his masterclass. Rohit eventually got out in the 15th over to Karim Janat after playing a lofted drive into the hand of Mohammad Nabi.

Rohit, along with fellow opener KL Rahul, added 140 runs for the first wicket in just 14.4 overs. Given that India were cruising at a run rate of around 9, skipper Virat Kohli decided to promote Rishabh Pant at number 3 and himself stayed back at the pavilion despite being padded up since the first ball of the innings.
