Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has returned to the net sessions with the rest of the squad and is all set to lead the team in the white-ball series against England. After testing COVID-19 positive ahead of the fifth Test match at Edgbaston, Rohit was ruled out of the Test and Jasprit Bumrah was handed responsibility to lead the side. However, India lost the game by 7 wickets and England levelled the series by 2-2.

In a fresh development, Rohit was seen participating in net sessions and looked in good nick ahead of the T20I series opener on July 7. The official Twitter handle of The Rose Bowl, also known as The Ageas Bowl shared a video of India's all-format captain hitting the balls at nets.

Taking to Twitter, the handle shared the video and wrote, "The @BCCI captain has arrived @ImRo45 has a net session at The Ageas Bowl, what a player. Let us know if you want to see more of Rohit from the nets!"

Notably, the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested from the 1st T20I and will join the squad in the 2nd and 3rd T20Is. Earlier, India put on a disappointing performance in the Test match and let the game slip away after dominating the game in the first three days. Jonny Bairstow's twin tons and 28th Test hundred from Joe Root in the second innings ensured an easy win for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Indian selectors announced a 16-men squad for the West Indies tour which will start immediately after the England series. Rohit Sharma has been rested from the ODI team among other names as Shikhar Dhawan has been trusted to lead the team, with Ravindra Jadeja being named his deputy.
