Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greats of the game. In his prime, there was hardly anything he could not do with the football on the pitch. Even at 36, he is going strong and is among the leading run-scorers for his country and club. With Manchester United desperately wanting to win in their Premier League match against Tottenham after they had lost far too many points for their liking and had been outplayed 0-5 by Liverpool in their previous match, they needed some inspirational moment.

And it came, courtesy a clinical finish from their talisman Ronaldo. It was indeed the Portuguese's first goal that set up the win for their side and while Bruno Fernandes gave him a superb pass, it was all up to Ronaldo to finish it and put the Red Devils in the lead after what had been a difficult week. Ronaldo did not disappoint as he aimed for the far pole from the right and scored in the 38'.

Notably, this was a much-needed win for United who tasted their first successful three points in the Premier League since September 19. The victory has lifted them to fifth in the table with 17 points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, Spurs are now on eighth place with 15 points in 10 matches.

Other than Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford scored for the Red Devils.

"Great goals, all of them," United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had been facing a lot of criticism, said after the win.

"The first one (goal) is the major one. What a pass from Bruno and Cristiano is the best. If he misses one he's still as focused for the next one," he added.

"The experience of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano is massive. We need it. We can't hide. The week has been difficult for all the players. They really stuck at it," he further said.

Meanwhile, Rashford also had his say after the match.

"It's obviously been a difficult week, it is for any team when you don't win. We've responded the only way we know how. The staff, the players all want to win," he told Sky Sports.

"Playing for Man Utd there's always pressure, you have to learn to enjoy it. Part of playing for this club is to come out of difficult moments. this club has always bounced back," he added.
