Riyan Parag is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket, however the youngster has failed to live up to the high expectations. After impressing in his early outings for Rajasthan Royals in IPL, his form started to fade away and returns of 339 runs and 3 wickets in 30 matches certainly don't justify what the all-rounder is capable of. However, the IPL 2022 mega auction showed that teams still believe in Parag's potential.
From Delhi Capitals to Chennai Super Kings to Gujarat Titans, all of them engaged in bidding war to secure the services of youngster. However, it was RR once again who secured the services of Parag for INR 3.8 crore. It was the home-coming for Assam player and it looks like he is indeed going to be a different player this season, as he provided a trailer of the same in Ranji Trophy clash against Vidarbha.
After playing a fiery 48-run knock to guide Assam to 316, Parag showed his skills with the ball. The off-spinner wreaked havoc as he dismissed Faiz Fazal, Atharva Taide, G Satish, Akshay Wadkar and Sarwate, to complete first five-wicket haul of his career.

He ended the innings with impressive figures of 25-3-68-5, making a huge statement ahead of what will be a very important season for him in IPL. Unfortunately for Assam, they were bowled out on 110 in second innings, setting up a paltry target of 156 runs for Vidarbha.
