The fans have often seen some really interesting things happening on the field during the Indian Premier League. Another very fascinating moment happened on Monday as Punjab Kings got set to face Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Samson takes the coin

As captains KL Rahul and Sanju Samson stepped out on the coin flip before the game, it was the newly-appointed RR skipper who eventually won the toss. As it is Samson's first game as skipper in IPL, the 26-year-old remarkably took the coin and put it in his pocket, possibly as memorabilia for this important day of his career. His counterpart KL Rahul was stunned as Samson gave a wry smile, looking at the match referee.

Watch the moment here:

Notably, Sanju Samson has become the 6th captain to lead Rajasthan Royals in the history of the tournament. After Steve Smith was released ahead of the new season, the Indian wicketkeeper got the nod ahead of experienced players like Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes.

The Kerala cricketer does have some leadership experience behind him as he has captained his state side before. However, IPL is a completely different ball game and all eyes will be on the 26-year-old as to how he goes about his business, leading a star-studded side.
