Scotland defeated Oman by two wickets in a nail-biting contest in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2022 on Friday. Table topper Oman posted 225 courtesy of Kashyap Prajapati (81 off 106), and Mohammad Nadeem’s (53 off 51), brilliant knocks. In response, Scotland batters Richie Berrington (73 off 110), George Munsey (43 off 68) and Michael Leask (21 off 19) made valuable contributions in the game to chase down the target in a thrilling encounter.
Scotland closed the gap with CWC League 2 frontrunners Oman as Mark Watt sealed their 11th win of the competition on the penultimate ball to narrow the gap with the table-toppers to 14 points. Scotland needed 10 runs to win the game in the last over, with just two wickets in hand. Mark Watt (37 off 25) went for a boundary in the very first ball of the over.
He hit two boundaries and rotated strikes to win the game with one ball remaining. After hitting the final boundary towards mid-off, Watt’s celebration spoke volumes about the value of that win. As soon as he hit the winning shot, Watt ran toward his team, threw his bat and gloves in the air and kissed his helmet to show his excitement and joy after pulling off a stunning victory for his side.
