After taking an admissible lead of 3-0 in the first four Ashes Test matches, Australia yet again crushed England in the fifth and final Test, sweeping the series 4-0 on home soil. Pat Cummins-led side concluded the series on a high by winning the final Test with a huge margin of 146 runs.

However, at one point England were cruising towards the target of 271. England's openers provided a solid start and added 68 runs before Australian bowlers changed the whole scenario in one session. The visitors lost 10 wickets for just 56 runs in the final session and faced another embarrassing defeat.

England's skipper once again was unlucky as he got dismissed on an unplayable delivery. Scott Boland bowled a length delivery which kept way too low and shattered the stumps of the batter. Joe Root could not believe his luck and gave a smile while returning to the dressing room.

Notably, Joe Root's wicket was a vital one as after his dismissal, the who side crumbled under the lights. Talking about the game, Australian skipper Pat Cummin's 6-wicket haul and Mitchelle Starc's 3-wicket guided hosts to be in the dominating position after the first innings of the game. However, Australia in the second innings were shocked by Mark Wood's marvellous spell where he clinched 6-wickets and played a vital role in bundling down the hosts at 155 runs in just 56.3 overs. However, the English batters once again disappointed as they got bundled out for 124 in the second innings.
