WATCH: Shaheen Shah Afridi lifts losing team captain Mohammad Rizwan minutes after winning maiden PSL title

The PSL 2022 season witnessed history in making as Lahore Qalandars, who were the only team yet to win a title, ended their trophy drought and became champions on Sunday. Lahore defeated Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the grand finale to complete their maiden PSL triumph.

While Shaheen Afridi (3/31) was phenomenal on the day for his side, it was his act after the match which caught everyone’s attention. As both the sides came out on field to shake hands, Lahore captain Shaheen lifted Multan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan in a beautiful display of brotherhood.

Despite the result, there was no love lost between the two cricketers as Rizwan showed his happiness for Shaheen and congratulated the youngster on a historic feat.

21-year-old Shaheen Afridi led from the front

Before the start of season, when the franchise had decided to hand over the leadership duties to young Shaheen Afridi, there were many people who were not too happy with the move. However, the 21-year-old silenced all his critics as he led from the front, both with his bowling and captaincy.

He ended the season as leading wicket-taker, with 20 scalps to his name at an impressive economy rate of 7.58. The manner in which he led his side after the end of finals was also a true testimony of the maturity under such young shoulders.

Reflecting on the moment between Rizwan and Shaheen, there were many incredible moments that the duo shared throughout the season. Considering the bonding that the two star players from Pakistan share with each other, it was indeed brilliant to see them competing with true sportsmanship in the final of mega event.

Both Rizwan and Shaheen will soon be back together in the same dressing room as Pakistan get set to face Australia in a historic series in next few days.
