Shahrukh Khan smashed 33* runs from 15 balls including 1 four and 3 sixes to fire Tamil Nadu to a 4-wicket victory over Karnataka in the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. With five runs needed to win off the last ball, Shahrukh produced a monstrous six as Tamil Nadu clinched the trophy for the second consecutive season.

Chasing 152, Tamil Nadu got off to a good start as Hari Nishanth and N Jagadeeshan put on 29 runs for the first wicket. TN opener Jagadeesan also played a crucial knock of 41 runs. However, the side lost wickets regularly in the middle overs and it looked like Karnataka will win the match until Shahrukh Khan's intervention. Tamil Nadu needed 57 runs in 22 balls when Shahrukh Khan walked into the middle.

The right-handed batsman delivered when it mattered the most for his team by hitting 3 sixes and a boundary. On the last ball of the match, Shahrukh Khan flicked Karnataka pacer Prateek Jain's attempted yorker into the mid-wicket stands and applied the finishing touches to a riveting chase. Courtesy of his heroics, Tamil Nadu clinched their third Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, having previously won it in 2006-07 and 2020-21.
