2000 NBA MVP and Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal had an incredibly funny reaction as his record was challenged in the fourth game of the Brooklyn Nets-Boston Celtics first-round playoff series. Nets centre Nic Claxton was nearing O’Neal’s shameful steak of most free throw attempts in a playoff game without a make. Shaq’s record was 0-for-8, while Claxton went 0-for-7 in the first half.

At the NBA insider halftime show, the Diesel uproariously called the Celtics not to foul Claxton in the second half because he wanted to keep his record. Unfortunately for Shaquille O’Neal, Claxton equalled his record with an eighth miss in the second half and then created a new record with two more misses. Claxton finally made a free throw on his 11th attempt of the night and finished the game 1-for-11 from the spot

The Big Aristotle was renowned to be a below-par free-throw point shooter as he shot 52.7 per cent from the free-throw line during his career. These percentages are still worse than Nic Claxton’s career mark of 53.9 per cent. Whereas in the game Boston Celtics brought out the brooms as they completed a four-game series sweep against the Nets, recording a 116-112 victory.

The Celts were led by Jayson Tatum’s 29 points with three rebounds and five assists. He shot 9 for 16 from the field with an FG% of 56.3% and also made four three-pointers at 66.7% from the deep. Similarly, Jaylen Brown also scored 22 points with eight rebounds and three assists.
