The Women's T20 Challenge finally got underway at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Monday with the Supernovas taking on the Trailblazers in the first match. While many experts and pundits suggested that the team winning the toss might opt to bowl first, Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur had other ideas as she decided to have a bat first.
Whatsmore, her decision even seemed right in the early stages of the match with their opening duo of Deandra Dottin and Priya Punia helping the team off to a good start. However, in the last ball of the fifth over, Trailblazers fielder Sharmin Akhter produced a great moment in the field and hit the stumps direct to ensure that the dangerous-looking Dottin departed for a 17-ball 32.
Dotting was sent back by her partner but could not reach the non-striking end on time.
