Dhawan and son Zoravar

Shikhar Dhawan is regarded as one of the most prolific cricketers for India especially in One-Day Internationals. The left-hander batter yet again displayed consistency with the bat in the recently concluded 15th edition of the Indian Premier League as he breached the 400-run mark yet again.

However, he was not part of the home series against South Africa. The senior cricketer used this opportunity to spend quality time with his son. He also expressed his love for his son as he claimed that he cherishes everyone he shares with his son. Dhawan wrote, "Zora my whole world ? Every moment with you is a moment to cherish. Love you, my son."

After Shikhar Dhawan was ignored for South Africa and Ireland series, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar said that selectors have moved ahead from Dhawan and the Punjab Kings batter is not in the scheme of things for T20 World Cup 2022. "No, I don't see that. If it had to pop up it would have been in this squad. Because a lot of the guys have gone to England. It would have been in this squad. If he's not in this squad, I don't see his name in the mix," Gavaskar said.

The left-hander, who last played a T20 International (T20I) in June last year against Sri Lanka, wasn't part of the 2021 T20 World Cup and has even been ignored for the two T20I series against Ireland coming up later this month. While Dhawan has played a lot of fine knocks for the nation, selectors have decided to groom Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan and look beyond Shikhar Dhawan in T20Is.
