Team India and Delhi Capitals were handed a big blow in the England limited-overs series when star player Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury. Not only was he ruled out of the matches against England, but he was also even declared unfit for the entire IPL 2021. Consequently, Rishabh Pant was named the skipper of the Delhi based franchise. However, the tournament had to be suspended midway and now with Iyer back on his way to recovery, he could well be available for the second leg of the tournament in the United Arab Emirates ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021.

The Delhi franchise even shared a video of Iyer dancing to Telugu superstar Vijay’s hit song “Vatthi Coming.” The video has been shot by T Natarajan, who himself, sustained an injury during the IPL. “For all those who missed @ShreyasIyer15 in #IPL2021's #VaathiComing video,” the video was captioned.

Iyer failed to make it for the limited-overs tour in July

Meanwhile, Iyer’s fitness level was good enough for him to be eligible for selection for the Sri Lanka tour in July. Notably, while most of the all-format players have already flown to the United Kingdom and will already be there after the World Test Championship final against New Zealand till their England series concludes, a separate white-ball side, led by Shikhar Dhawan, will fly to Sri Lanka in July. The teams will play three ODIs and three T20Is at Colombo during the tour.
