Shubman Gill wicket

Luck is very crucial in a game of cricket. If it’s your day, an edge will go for 4, or a full-toss will get you a wicket. But as they say, luck has its limits. The same happened with KKR opener Shubman Gill, whose string of lucky escapes ran out pretty quickly today.

It happened in the first over of the KKR innings against CSK. After hitting Deepak Chahar for a boundary, Shubman Gill was hit on the pads on the very next ball and was adjudged LBW. However, the stylish opener immediately opted for the review as he thought the ball was missing the stumps. As it turns out, the luck was on Gill’s side as the ball was indeed going over the stumps and the decision was eventually overturned.

However, Gill’s luck ran out on the very next ball as a miscommunication with his partner Venkatesh Iyer resulted in a run-out.

Gill came dancing down much before the ball was bowled, and hit it towards midwicket, and hesitantly started running. But there was hardly a run there, and Iyer turned down the call. But by that time, Gill was already halfway down, Ambati Rayudu aimed at the stumps perfectly and caught Gill short.

As it turned out Gill was not able to capitalize on the chance he got in the previous delivery and went back to the dugout in the first over itself.
