The ongoing European Championship has witnessed some absolutely outrageous stuff this year. From Patrik Shick's wonder goal from half-way line to Cristiano Ronaldo equaling Ali Daei's record of 109 international goals, it has been an action-packed tournament till now. However, the most bizarre moment of EURO 2020 happened during the Round of 16 clash between Spain and Croatia on Monday.

Croatia goes ahead in the most unusual manner

It was the 20th minute of the first half and Spain were looking rather comfortable. As Luis Enrique's side prefers to play from the back, midfielder Pedri played a back pass towards goalkeeper Unai Simon to begin the next move. However, the 24-year-old made a casual effort to control the ball and made an absolute mess as the ball went past him into the back of his own net, much to everyone's surprise in the stadium. Against the run of play, Croatia took the lead at Parken Stadium in Denmark and Simon looked absolutely gutted after his incredible error. The goal was officially listed down as an own-goal by Pedri who had played the ball towards Simon.

After going a goal down, Spain found themselves on the backfoot as Croatia started to play more confidently. However, Luis Enrqiue's side kept their composure and got the equalizer through Pablo Sarabia in the 38th minute of the match. The first half ended with a 1-1 scoreline, setting up a grand stand finish in the blockbuster contest.
